Moisturizing Vanilla Whipped Body Scrub

Whipped shea butter and sugar body scrub

Ever tried combining the moisturizing power of shea butter with the exfoliating benefits of a body scrub? No? You’re really missing out. What you get is a super nourishing application for the skin that almost feels like a high-end spa treatment. Best of all, it’ll only take you five minutes to prepare this body scrub with our recipe.

You might ask, how is a whipped shea sugar scrub different from a regular body scrub? Your run-of-the-mill body scrubs usually mix sugar or salt with liquid oil, such as almond oil or olive oil. Here’s a scrumptious strawberry sugar scrub you can try if you like that style.

Whipped body scrub, however, is made by whipping a botanical butter such as shea, coconut oil, or mango butter. Sugar is mixed in after the butter is whipped full of air. The result is a thick scrub that is incredibly moisturizing.

A whipped shea sugar scrub is perfect for the winter months when skin dries out. The sugar exfoliates the skin, while the oils and butter restore moisture. Using this regularly will help keep your skin smooth and soft all winter long.

Not only is it very simple to make, but it’s also a fun way to take your basic body scrub up a notch and add a little extra pampering to your skincare routine. This recipe pairs shea butter with coconut sugar to create a gentle exfoliant mild enough to use two or three times a week.

Recipe: Whipped Shea Butter & Sugar Body Scrub

Servings: 1-1/8 cup body scrub

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Place shea butter, coconut oil, and avocado oil into a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Beat the mixture until its consistency is thick and silky.
  3. Add ½ cup of coconut sugar and beat on low until it’s thoroughly combined.
  4. Add the rest of the coconut sugar and stir the mixture to distribute it evenly.
  5. Add vanilla extract or oleoresin and stir it again.
  6. Scoop the mixture into a clean jar and add a label.

Uses:

  • To use your shea sugar scrub, apply it to the skin in circular motions. Wash it off with warm water.
  • Use this shea sugar scrub to moisturize and exfoliate the skin on your hands and feet, or go all out and use it as an all-over body scrub.
  • Be careful while washing it off in the shower, as it makes the floor very slippery.
  • We recommend that you don’t use this scrub on your face. The oils and thick butter could cause breakouts.

Recipe Notes:

  • It’s fairly easy to whip shea butter, but if it’s very firm, warm it briefly in a double boiler until it’s soft enough to whip.
  • Shea butter is derived from a tree nut, so be aware of any potential allergens you’re exposing yourself to.
