Mommy Time Tea Blend
During the rush of a normal busy week, I can spend up to 4 hours a day in my van. That is taking kids back and forth to TaeKwonDo, part-time jobs, as well as running family errands like grocery shopping, banking, and trips to the post office.
Add in planning and making 21 meals a week, paying bills, balancing the checkbook, keeping up with kids on schoolwork, running our homestead, and even working from home… I’m a super busy mom.
And I am tired.
Sometimes, I am more mentally tired than I am physically tired. Mental exhaustion seems to take a bigger toll on me. Maybe it’s because when I am just physically tired, a nap or early bedtime helps me recover.
Mental exhaustion, however, requires more than a nap. It requires downtime. Downtime like closing the computer, turning off the phone, and putting on some classical music. Downtime that means I can just BE, instead of DO.
That’s the perfect time for this Mommy Time tea blend. This blend adds in helpful herbs that soothe, comfort, and even help to re-energize tired moms.
Herbs For Mommy Time Tea Blend
Rosemary — a.k.a. the “memory herb”. Rosemary is great for those times you need a mental pick-me-up. It’s scent is refreshing and energizing. And hey, if anything can help my “mom brain”, it’s rosemary!
Mint — has cooling properties that help to calm, soothe and relax. This is also a great herb to use for those “I need sugar and I need it NOW” moments, as mint is naturally sweet and has tummy-soothing properties that help to aid in digestion or even ease anxiety.
Rose Hips — are naturally packed with vitamin C to help keep your immune system healthy. Rose hips add a gentle flavor that is subtle, yet blends with the other herbs easily. When we are so busy, our immune system can take a toll and get run down. Adding this is an easy way to help supplement that a bit.
Lemon Peel — is another soothing, yet energizing scent that is great in this blend. It adds that “needed finish” to the blend, helping it to end with a tangy, citrus-y note.
So grab these herbs, a jar with a tight-fitting lid, and a measuring cup. It’s that easy!
- 1 part dried rosemary
- 3 parts dried mint
- 2 parts rosehips
- 1 part lemon peel
Mix together by gently shaking all the dried herbs in the jar. To use, simply spoon 1 tablespoon into a cup of boiling water (8 ounces). Allow to steep for 5-8 minute, strain the herbs, and sweeten as desired. Put your feet up, close your eyes and enjoy the relaxing scent, and sip away!
