How is our Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil Made?
Our cold-pressed, virgin coconut oil is made like no other. It combines the cold pressing of freshly dried coconut flesh with centrifugation to remove fine proteins and clarify the oil. This is the process we use to produce our premium unrefined coconut oil:
- The fresh coconuts are opened and grated.
- We then dehydrate the grated coconut at low temperatures, drying the coconut into crisp flakes.
- These flakes are then "pressed" to yield a delicious oil that contains many of the nutrients and flavors of the fresh coconut.
- The final step is to clarify the oil to ensure you receive the best product. No chemicals or heat are used in any stage of the extraction process.
A Constantly Evolving Process
Through the years, the process of manufacturing virgin or unrefined coconut oil has gone through many changes and innovations. Cold pressed coconut oils, though they realize the highest yield of any of the methods of producing coconut oil, often had a toasted coconut flavor because of high heat or became rancid tasting because of oxidized proteins that remained in the oil.

Similarities between the Oils
Our Organic Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil and Centrifuge Extracted Virgin Coconut Oil both melt in your mouth with a pleasantly mild coconut flavor, and both have very low moisture content and very long shelf life. Neither one of our two virgin coconut oils are heated during any of the processes involved.
