A Butter Unlike Any Other

Wildly Organic’s raw, certified raw cacao butter differs from the standard versions you find elsewhere. It’s the "by-product" of making the raw cacao powder. The fresh beans are separated from the pod and then air-dried at low temperatures. The beans go through a roller to break the outer membrane before being ground and pressed to remove the oil. After pressing the oil out of the cacao nibs, the "butter" is removed, separating it from the fibrous powder.

Because the process does not contain any fermentation or heat (the processes typically used in the extraction of this plant-based butter), the resulting raw butter and raw cacao powder are not bitter. Our raw cacao butter is never exposed to chemicals. The difference is in the details, and we think you’ll appreciate — and taste — that difference!

Is cacao butter the same thing as cocoa butter?

Cacao and cocoa butter may come from the same source, but they are processed completely differently. Cocoa butter is processed using high temperatures which makes it not raw and may lead to less nutrients in the final product.

Raw cacao butter is made using a cold-press method that preserves as much of the natural nutrients as possible and results in a raw product. That’s what makes our raw butter so great – minimal processing means a better quality product which retains so many of the natural benefits.

What is cacao butter good for?

It’s excellent for chocolate making and gives chocolate a velvety texture. This vegan butter is also great for baking and some people will use it as an alternative to dairy butter.
