Low-calorie Sweet Tea {Healthy, Keto-Friendly}
Craving something cool and sweet, but trying to keep sugar intake low? This low-calorie sweet tea is a must try! Cool, refreshing, and healthy, this keto-friendly sweet tea is perfect during hot summer days.
Sweet tea is an American classic. During summer days, you can find a pitcher of sweet tea in most households in the South. However, to brew a great classic sweet tea you usually need to use a lot of sugar, which is not really a healthy option if you are on a low-calorie, low-sugar diet. Usually, the alternative to sugar-free sweet tea is using artificial sweetener, which contains unhealthy chemicals that can also become addictive.
You don’t need to completely give up on sweet tea! This healthier version is sweetened with an organic natural sweetener from Wildly Organic, called Coco Monkey. It contains 5g of calories per serving, and it is made from freeze-dried organic coconut water, pure monk fruit extract, and organic inulin which is a prebiotic fiber. It has a clean, natural sweetness without an artificial aftertaste. The tea tastes delicious, and you can’t tell that it hasn’t been sweetened with regular sugar.
Tips to Make the Best Low-Calorie Sweet Tea:
1. One of the tricks of making a delicious Southern Sweet Tea is to mix the sugar (in our case Coco Monkey) while the tea is still hot.
2. If you are using black tea, adding a pinch of baking soda will remove the bitterness from the tea.
3. Adding lemon slices and fresh mint leaves will add a refreshing flavor to the tea. For even more flavor, you can add frozen or fresh berries, cherries, peaches, or another favorite fruit.
4. To give a fun twist to the classic sweet tea, try brewing other types of tea, like green tea, white tea, oolong, or caffeine-free ones like rooibos, mint, ginger, hibiscus, or ginseng.
