Blueberry Lime Chia Fresca Recipe

I’ve recently seen pre-packaged chia fresca drinks at the grocery store, but realized I could make my own at home with Wildly Organic chia seeds! It’s so easy to do and you can change up the flavor combinations for endless drink varieties.

This version is blueberry lime flavored and it’s just as delicious as it looks! The blueberries and lime are bright and fresh and the agave adds just a touch of sweetness. Of course, if you would prefer you can leave the sweetener out, too.

I initially the thought the texture of the chia seeds would bother me, but I really loved them in this drink recipe. They just add the slightest bit of texture to this drink, but it’s still easy to drink through a paper straw.

Making this blueberry lime chia fresca could not be simpler. All you need is some filtered water, fresh blueberries, lime juice, Wildly Organic agave and of course… chia seeds!

You’ll want to let the chia fresca sit in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes, to let the chia seeds hydrate in the water. Don’t let it sit much longer than that though, chia seeds get really plump and a little slimy after sitting in water for a while, which is why they make such great egg replacers in vegan recipes. But for our drinking purposes, drink immediately after hydrating the chia seeds for best results.

Tips for Making Blueberry Lime Chia Fresca

  • You can use frozen or fresh blueberries so you can enjoy this refreshing drink all year long.
  • We like to pour the blueberry mixture through a mesh sieve so that there are no skins in your drink. If you like the blueberry skins in your drink you can leave it as is.
  • We’re using a touch of agave to sweeten this drink. Other liquid sweeteners like pure maple syrup also work well. Of course, if you don’t want to sweeten your drink at all, that’s okay too. It will still be refreshing and fruity!
