Moringa Sesame Vinaigrette
Moringa…
It’s not a new dance move or exercise fad, but a nourishing superfood you can easily add to your family’s menu.
Moringa is a lush, green tree native to parts of Asia and Africa. The deeply nutritious leaves contain a surprising amount of vitamins and minerals — specifically B vitamins and Vitamin A and a host of essential amino acids. (Learn just how amazing moringa is!)
It’s used in both leaf and powder form and often added to curries, chutneys, green smoothies, and soups.
I personally enjoy moringa powder stirred into yogurt with fresh blackberries. It has a slightly nutty, delicately green flavor.
Shake up this Moringa Sesame Vinaigrette and pour over a dark, leafy green salad with your favorite vegetables and even fruits if you like. Berries bring even more antioxidant goodness to the party. A pop of sweet juiciness is a lovely contrast to the tartness of the vinaigrette. Almonds give a good crunch and are healthier than croutons.
How To Make The Perfect Moringa Sesame Vinaigrette
Don’t always follow the formula!
Generally, vinaigrettes need an oil-to-vinegar ratio of 3:1. If you get that mixed around, you’ll know it right away — trust me on that!
Vinegars can vary in tartness, so 3:1 is not always perfect.
This recipe doesn’t follow that formula, however. I tamed the vinegar by using half vinegar and half lemon juice.
It’s still nicely tart, but won’t make you spontaneously duck-face when you taste it!
Adjust the amount of moringa to suit your taste by adding 1 teaspoon at a time and tasting before adding more. Dipping a piece of lettuce in the dressing and tasting it will give a more accurate representation of the flavor than just tasting from a spoon. Keep in mind also that the flavors will develop more as the dressing sits.
