Wild Rice | Wood Parched
6This Minnesota cultivated wild rice requires just the right conditions to grow and is grown in northern Minnesota. The water has to be at a certain level, and it needs to flow slightly, but not so much that it uproots the plants. The bottom of the lake needs to have rich humus, and the temperatures need to be like those you see in this area: COLD! Given those conditions, you can grow wonderfully delicious, natural, wild rice (which is actually an aquatic grass with large seed heads). Using the "wood parching" method rather than propane helps the rice to retain more of the natural moisture resulting in a fluffier, better tasting, and faster cooking rice.
Our Wood Parched Wild Rice arrives ready-to-use in 16 ounce Wilderness Family Naturals branded vapor-barrier, resealable packaging to maintain freshness. Packaging may include an oxygen absorber.
