Wildly Organic Breakfast-In-Bed Mother’s Day Menu For Kids To Follow

Mother's Day is a day to honor the mothers (and mother figures) in our lives — those who have mothered us, raised us, taught us by example, and have loved us as only a mother's heart can love.

They work tirelessly, often without much appreciation or recognition for their efforts. One small way to show your love and appreciation is by serving the mother in your life a delicious, homemade breakfast in bed.

Sometimes, though, those breakfasts don't turn out quite so delicious. Because kids are still learning how to make yummy things in the kitchen, right? ;)

Wildly Organic Breakfast-In-Bed Mother's Day Menu Kids Can Follow

When I was a kid, I loved Mother's Day because I loved making and serving breakfast to my mom. One Mother's Day, in particular, is very memorable. I started preparing ingredients the night before for a special, amazing, unbelievable omelet.

While I don't remember now exactly what all went in it, I do remember shredding carrots, crushing saltine crackers, and chopping or preparing probably at least 5 more ingredients -- not including the obligatory eggs! I also remember my mom elbowing my dad when he started saying something that morning. Maybe it wasn't as amazing and unbelievable as I thought.

Maybe it was more unbelievable that she ate it. But, that's a mom for you. We appreciate the offerings of love from our children — even when they aren't actually that delicious. ;)

The Kids Just Need A Little Direction

With a little help, kids really can put together a tasty breakfast for Mom. There are many easy-to-prepare foods that even the littlest ones can help with in some way.

My 10-year-old son (we call him "Mister" most of the time) has been making breakfast in bed for me several times throughout the year for at least a couple years now. He's just super sweet like that.

His specialty is scrambled eggs, and he always garnishes the plate with a healthy dose of hot sauce in a fancy design. Many times there is a hand-drawn card. I love his thoughtfulness and attention to detail!

So naturally, I asked his advice for easy breakfast ideas that kids can make to serve their moms. Here is Mister's Wildly Organic Mother's Day Breakfast-In-Bed Menu For Kids To Follow!

#1 — Wonderful, Glorious Eggs

Eggs are a classic breakfast food. If you have a kiddo that can make fried eggs just like mom likes, that's wonderful! But if fried eggs are too tricky for your crew, go with scrambled.

Mister loves to season them with his combination of garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, Wildly Organic Himalayan Pink Salt, and nutritional yeast. It's so flavorful and delicious!

Mister says: Whip the eggs really good, and if you want them fluffy add milk. Do not add too much salt and pepper, the pepper will make it too spicy.

Cook the eggs in a healthy fat like Wildly Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil or Wildly Organic Red Palm Oil for a nourishing protein source for mom's special breakfast.

#2 — Fresh Fruit

This option is perfect for your littlest ones. Choose fresh blueberries or strawberries and have them count a certain number as they put them in a pretty bowl.

Older kids with knife skills can slice or chop various fruits and make a fresh fruit salad. Make a light dressing of fresh orange juice and Wildly Organic Coconut Syrup and toss the chopped fruit to coat. If older children are feeling adventurous, they could make this Vegan Coconut Butter & Vanilla Bean Fruit Dip!

#3 — Yogurt Parfaits

Sweeten plain yogurt with coconut syrup, add a splash of vanilla, and layer in clear glass with fresh fruit (or plan ahead and make this gluten-free Chunky Coconut Granola to layer with the fruit and yogurt).

#4 — Freshly Baked Muffins

Warm muffins with melty butter make Mom happy. I'm a mom, trust me on this ;)

And most moms love chocolate, right? These Easy Grain-Free Chocolate Quinoa Muffins are perfect for kids to make. Just measure, mix, fill the muffin cups, and bake! You will need some cooked quinoa on hand so be sure to cook some during the week and leave leftovers for these muffins!

#5 — Toast, Bagels, or English Muffins

If mom doesn't like sweet muffins, other easy breads are toast, bagels, or English muffins. If mom has a gluten or grain sensitivity or is following a low-carb or paleo diet you'll just want to skip this option. Spread Mom's toast with butter or decadent Wildly Organic Coconut Butter.

#6 — Mom's Favorite Morning Drink

If mom likes coffee or tea, she'll appreciate having a hot mug of it along with her meal — like Mommy Time Tea or Frothy Power Coffee.

Always be careful of course when handling hot beverages! Maybe an older kid (or your significant other) can carry that when serving. If you're not sure how Mom likes her coffee, provide the cream and a sweetening option so she can add what she likes.

If she's not a coffee or tea person, fresh fruit juice, milk, or even just a glass of water are great ideas too.

Mister says: "Just do your best. Your mom will like it because you know it tastes good and you know your mom just wants something that tastes good."

#7 — Homemade Cards & Flowers

This is actually the best part of the breakfast tray! Those sweet stick figure drawings and scrawling words of love from little hands melt a mom's heart. Older kids sharing their hearts is equally touching.

Freshly picked dandelions and clovers or whatever is growing in the yard are better than a fancy bouquet of flowers from a floral shop. They are the best because some little person who loves you picked them for your special day.

Kids, put those beautiful flowers in a small glass with some water or just scatter them around the tray.

#8 — Happy Smiles & Big Hugs

You'll want to serve Mom with a happy smile and plenty of big hugs. And know that even if the eggs are rubbery, the toast is burned, and the coffee is cold she will love that you did your best to make her a special breakfast in bed for Mother's Day.

And, one more thing...

Please clean up the kitchen. Just do it. Mom will be over-the-moon if you do. Trust me on that one, too ;)

Hey moms! What would you like to see on your breakfast-in-bed tray this Mother's Day?
