Anti-Stress Strawberry Smoothie (with maca & mint!)
A nourishing and healing dessert in a glass that can also double as a quick breakfast or snack?
That’s what you get with this Anti-Stress Strawberry Smoothie with maca and mint!
When your life is busy or stressful, sometimes you just need quick and easy nourishment. Smoothies are a great way to fuel our bodies in a hurry. Beyond just filling our stomachs and providing energy to our bodies, we often need some healing too. Having foods that can actually help us relieve our stress is a major bonus!
And for that, of course, we turn to our food — this time, a natural adaptogen and relaxing herbs.
Why Maca?
Maca root was traditionally used by the indigenous peoples of the Andes mountains for its healing properties. Today, we know that maca root is a powerful adaptogen food that can boost the libido, reduce menopause symptoms, and reduce the effects of adrenal fatigue. Some maca root in the diet can boost brain function and energy levels in a more sustainable way than caffeinated drinks.
Because maca root most often comes in powdered form, it’s an easy smoothie add-in.
Why Mint?
Mint and strawberries are a delicious combination, and that’s reason enough to combine them into a smoothie.
Yet beyond mint’s amazing flavor, it can also help ease digestive issues which can often be a problem when dealing with stress. Mint’s flavor and smell can also be mood-lifting and energizing without the crash of caffeine.
If fresh mint isn’t available to you, try using a cup of cooled peppermint tea as the smoothie liquid (instead of water or milk). Or if you’re comfortable, try a drop or 2 of a high-quality peppermint essential oil.
