DIY Peppermint Hot Chocolate in a Jar Recipe

Hot chocolate is one of those winter-time staples that brings you back to being a kid. Hot chocolate helped you warm up after skating. It was a toasty comfort while you watched the snow. It was the perfect drink for watching movies with your family.

There’s no better gift than a DIY hot chocolate mix! On top of its tastiness, throwing together this DIY hot chocolate gift is so simple. Just three ingredients and you’re done!

Conventional hot chocolate mix is typically loaded with processed sugar, additives and all sorts of unnecessary ingredients. Don’t worry! There’s a real food option! Wildly Organic Hot Chocolate Mix only contains three ingredients: raw, organic fermented cacao powder (Fair Trade certified!), dairy-free organic coconut milk powder, and organic coconut sap sugar. Minimal ingredients but still loaded with hot chocolate flavor.

Cacao powder is one of the purest forms of chocolate and while it may seem slightly bitter on its own when mixed with a sweetener it resembles dark chocolate. The hot chocolate mix contains organic coconut milk powder because not only is it a healthy fat which will help slow the release of the sugar, it also helps make the hot chocolate creamier and more decadent. Coconut sap sugar, while still a sugar, actually has some nutritional perks to it. It contains prebiotic fiber which can help your digestive system to an extent.

While the hot chocolate mix is delicious in itself, adding the candy canes and some mini chocolate chips just make it a little more decadent and festive!

This DIY hot chocolate in a jar gift is extremely simple to make. Mix all the ingredients, portion it out into a jar,  tie on some twine and gift to your family and friends! However, if you’re feeling fancy it’s always nice to print off the directions to make a hot mug of cocoa for the recipient. So grab a jar, a piece of twine, some stock paper, and this tasty DIY peppermint hot chocolate recipe and let’s get started!
