Real Food Peppermint Mocha {with a dairy-free option!}
Do you want a peppermint mocha, but without a crazy load of sugar?
Perhaps you’d like to avoid the “natural flavors” and other less-than-healthy ingredients in your beverage, too?
Maybe you’d even like to avoid dairy…
If so, I’ve got just the recipe for you!
When I set out to create a homemade, Real Food Peppermint Mocha, I was a little intimidated. Could I really make it taste as good as (or better than) the well-loved version from one of American’s favorite coffee joints?
Real Food Peppermint Mocha
I have to tell you, the results are way above my expectations! This Real Food Peppermint Mocha is creamy and delicious. Plus, it’s free of artificial sweeteners and additives. It can easily be dairy-free, too (and it’s just as tasty that way!).
While I’d still consider this a treat, it does contain some health-enhancing ingredients such as Wildly Organic’s Coconut Butter and Raw Cacao Powder. Cacao contains antioxidants, while coconut butter includes lauric acid, which helps fight inflammation.
Both of these ingredients are great to keep in your pantry for all kinds of recipes. See a variety of ways to use coconut butter here: 11 Ways to Use Coconut Butter
This recipe uses non-fermented cacao powder, but feel free to replace it with fermented cacao powder if you prefer a darker chocolate flavor. (Click here to learn the difference between fermented and non-fermented cacao powder!)
Wildly Organic’s Coconut Sugar is the perfect way to sweeten any Real Food treat because it’s more nutrient dense than white or brown sugar. Coconut sugar contains many vitamins and minerals not present in other sweeteners.
This Real Food Peppermint Mocha is delicious topped with whipped cream and dusted with cocoa powder. This is optional, of course, but highly recommended!

This recipe has more chocolate than coffee. If you desire a stronger coffee flavor, replace some of the milk with brewed coffee, or brew a stronger coffee to use for the coffee portion.
If you are making this dairy-free, whip coconut cream until stiff peaks form. Add a dash of vanilla, if desired.
